Beaches and Surroundings

Tropea

The beach of Tropea is considered the best European beach by the prestigious Sunday Times magazine.

It has fine white sand, the sea is turquoise and crystal-clear and the sloping sea bed is visible even at considerable depths due to the extraordinary transparency of the water. You can bath lazily, swim as long as you want and play any marine activity you like from diving to fishing.

You don’t need a car and you can decid if you prefer to use the free beach or to be spoild at the Lidos around to combine a good restaurant with all the services you’d need.

Capo Vaticano

One of the most enchanting places of the entire Tyrrhenian coast. It offers a natural scenary of incomparable beauty: cliffs overlooking the clear sea with its shades of green and blue, the beautiful bays, white sandy beaches and numerous coves and bays often accessible only by boat.

The beach of Santa Maria di Ricadi with its sand soft and light-coloured, lies south of the Capo Vaticano promontory, nestling in a bay full of  the small inlets and coves that have given it its other name, Grotticelle or “Little Caves”. At one end is the rocky spur of Torre Santa Maria while at the other end are the Grotta dell’Aspide cave and Scogli della Galea.

The magnificent Scoglio della Galera is a rocky formation with curious cell-like openings. The water here is clear and incredibly transparent – perfect for a dip or a swim.
